God’s House Tower

‘a space’ arts is currently working on an ambitious project to refurbish and reopen Southampton’s 700 year old God’s House Tower into a new Arts and Heritage venue following a £1.6 million grant from HLF.

I’ve been involved in a number of ways in the build up to the venue reopening. Including research and design for the GHT website, and early press releases.

As part of the Southampton Fringe in 2016 the building reopened to the public for a week with and hosted a range of cultural events. This included 700 women, a project by artist Sarah Filmer to bring 700 women through the building to help address the gender imbalance in the written history of the space.

The event was a huge success and generated considerable press attention with the Daily Echo, BBC and The Guardian all publishing articles. Below are photos are by Greg Moss, who I invited to photograph the building. His high quality photos were then used for the Guardian article.
